Atherosclerosis

Atherosclerosis is a condition whereby fats and cholesterol etc accumulate in the walls of coronary vessels and forms a substance called plaque. The plaque hardens the heart vessels and causes hindrance in the flow of blood to the myocardium. Atherosclerosis may be the chief cause of heart attack. Other than heart, atherosclerosis can also affect arms, brain and pelvis. Heart related atherosclerosis is sometimes termed as Coronary-Atherosclerosis.
